What’s On Near Slaley Forest this February
Springhouse Boutique Holiday Park, Slaley Forest, Northumberland
Welcome to What’s on in our area in February. We have some fine offers from our usual sources of entertainment. The link provided will take you to our suggestion, but it will be one of many events at the venue so have a look at their programme for even more. I’ve trawled the internet for new venues and interesting events. Give then a try. We live in a brilliant location with so much going on for all tastes. Have fun!
I’ve given a web link in most cases. Please check before you go. As with all exploring, some of our ‘What’s on’ suggestions will be brilliant, some will give you completely new experiences, and others may be a disappointment. I’m putting this list together based on what I think looks interesting.

During this event we’ll be exploring childhood and toys, as well as celebrating the museum’s 50th anniversary. Enjoy birthday parties in each of our areas across site and join in with party games, celebrations and birthday cakes.
We have been working with lots of community groups in Middlesbrough exploring the history of childhood and toys in the 1950s, linked to the development of our toy shop in our 1950s Town. Come and see their work on display at the museum.

And all ages can have a go at making their own personalised seal, a special symbol that the Prince Bishops used when they lived in the Castle, as part of half-term craft sessions in the Castle’s new learning rooms.
Both activities are included with admission to Auckland Castle.
Tickets are now available to pre-book for any of the events and activities, which will launch with the seasonal re-opening of Auckland Castle on February 15.
Light it up! – Winter Workshop at Vindolanda
Light it up! – Winter Workshop at Vindolanda. http://bit.ly/3aP4BPf 29th Feb
Using ancient craft skills, moulds and templates, Graham will show you how to make your own heritage pieces of pottery with a creative twist. Your items will be fired and returned to you to enjoy.
For people in the UK winter is a darker time of year but midwinter festivals have been a feature of almost every culture throughout history and prehistory, as a way of bringing light. Many of these ancient festivals feature, light, fire and incense, so what better way to create some more light for these darker nights than to create your own oil lamps, candle holders or incense burners.
This workshop will take place at Vindolanda and includes admission to the site. It is a half day workshop of 2 hours, with both morning and afternoon sessions: 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 3pm.
