What’s On in the Local Area this November

Largo House, East Fife, Scotland

November has some great events in our area. The season brings spectacular Autumn colours in the outdoors.  Of course, 5th November has fireworks and bonfires to enjoy.  I’ve found events in our usual venues as well as some new places to explore. Some events need booking and will sell out so act now to get tickets.  Have fun!

I’ve given a web link in most cases.  Please check before you go.  As with all exploring, some of our ‘What’s on’ suggestions will be brilliant, some will give you completely new experiences, and others may be a disappointment. I’m putting this list together based on what I think looks interesting.

Fife Opera celebrates 40 years with Verdi’s tragic masterpiece ‘La Traviata’. With beautiful melodies, rousing choruses and heart-rending drama, it’s no wonder this has become the world’s most performed opera. Vanessa Codutti directs an exciting new production, with a star line up of soloists along with the Fife Opera chorus and orchestra. Come and drink the musical champagne of Verdi’s most sparkling music and experience the joy and tears as the tale unfolds

Bow House , East Neuk:  Market Weekends

Bow House replaces a missing link in the local food chain. It connects small growers and producers with restaurants and shoppers, giving everyone better access to the best ingredients and finished produce that the East Neuk has to offer.

By encouraging a shorter, local supply chain to flourish, as a community we will be able to retain more of the highly-coveted raw ingredients yielded in the East Neuk here for us, rather than losing out to bigger urban or overseas markets.

RSPB Birdy Banquet

Black Devon Wetlands Alloa is a quiet gem of a reserve, an area of untouched wet grassland and wetland habitat which includes freshwater pools, brackish pools and reedbeds. This new site is being developed by RSPB Scotland to be better for the people and wildlife of the Inner Forth.
As the winter draws in and the natural food supplies run low, join RSPB staff to learn all about feeding the birds in your garden and make your very own bird feeder to take home.

This is a drop-in event on 16th November. Adults £3, children and RSPB members £2.

Started in November 2012 by Struan Erskine, the current steward of Cambo and Tom Graham, ale enthusiast and pro brewer, Cambolicious filled a gaping, beerfest shaped void in the annual East Neuk event calendar. AIA Anster Nichts: 50 Years of the Scottish Fisheries Museum

Presentation by Linda Fitzpatrick, Curator, will review the developments of the last 50 years and look forward to some exciting plans for the future.

Anstruther’s national museum, founded by a Charitable Trust and opened in July 1969, celebrates its golden anniversary this year.

Starting life as a relatively small site based around a historic courtyard, it has gradually spread to take in various other buildings including a former boatyard and even a pub. Along the way, many talented and dedicated people, both staff and volunteers, have ensured that the Museum and its activities have grown and flourished.

The collections are now Recognised as a Nationally Significant Collection and the Museum is a hub for numerous community activities including coastal rowing, boat-building, exhibitions and events.
