Holderness Boutique Holiday Park, East Yorkshire

This is the first of our ‘What’s on‘ blogs.  I have scoured the internet and sought local knowledge to find a selection of events you might find interesting this October.  Over the following months I introduce you to places of interest, event, festivals and activities near our site.  If you have any particular interests and would like me to look out for particular types of events, please let me know.  Also, if you go to an event give me some feedback so I can recommend it to others for next year.

I’ve given a web link in most cases.  Please check before you go.  As with all exploring, some of our ‘What’s on’ suggestions will be brilliant, some will give you completely new experiences, and others may be a disappointment. I’m putting this list together based on what I think looks interesting.

Park Run: Every Saturday at 9:00

Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Bridlington

I love Park run. It’s for everyone.  You can run/walk.  Run with your dog.  Shove kids along in a push chair. Or race as though your life depended on it. Free fitness with hundreds of others enjoying jogging along with you.

The course is 5000m (5K) long in the grounds of Sewerby Hall & Gardens, Bridlington, and is run over road, path, grass and woodland woodchip path surfaces. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain.

The Beverley Food Festival:  6th October

Beverley Market Place

The market town of Beverley is always worth a visit. Even more so when the 14th Beverley Food Festival is on. There will be 120 food stalls selling a wide range of local food and drink. Regular cooking demonstrations are to be held in The Food Theatre Marque. Add street music, hot food stalls, a promise of cheese, local ales and this looks a great day out

Lulu’s On Fire tour: 16th Oct

Bridlington Spa

Do you want a brilliant night out?  This has got to be a lot of fun.  Lulu is bringing her show to Bridlington Spa.  Expect to sing along to hits, such as The Man Who Sold The World, Relight My Fire, To Sir With Love and, of course, Shout, amongst many others. Lulu is a top-class entertainer.  This will be well worth the trip I’m sure. I need a ticket!

Autumn Festival at Nunnington Hall : 17th – 20th October

Nunnington, near York.  YO62 5UY

Nunnington Hall is the stunning location to celebrate Autumn. There will be plenty to interest and enthral you over the four-day festival.  Talks and tours, a children’s garden trail, floral demonstration, seasonal tasters and apple juicing are amongst the activities on offer.

Inside the hall you’ll find autumnal decorations and floral displays using fruits and foliage from the garden as well as a display of organic pears, apples and fruits all harvested from the Nunnington orchards. If you’ve old apple trees at home, as you tour the orchards, you might even find you’ve inherited some old local Yorkshire varieties.

Most importantly the festival spills over into the tearoom.
